What is a root page?
Root page is a term used to describe the page located at the root of your website. In other words, it is the page visitors are greeted with when they simply access your domain directly.
If you own the domain test.dk, for example, the content found at the address "test.dk" is your root page, while a page such as "test.dk/page1" would be a subpage on your domain.
Most often, a file named "index" is set as the root page by default. However, your root page can be any page you choose, and it can be changed at any time in your web server's configuration.
