Gold · Best Use of Search: FashionThe challenge: AI copy that backfired
Organic Basics is a Danish sustainable fashion brand selling into the US. More than 400 collection pages had been filled with AI-generated copy. It lifted visibility in late 2024, then backfired in 2025: rankings on general searches, where shoppers don't search for the brand name but for things like "organic cotton underwear", collapsed just as the brand's biggest quarter approached.
Searchmind was brought in for a focused three-month programme, from September to November 2025, with one goal: to win back visibility.
The objective
Make Q4 2025 Organic Basics' strongest organic quarter ever, despite the decline. The target was to more than double organic clicks versus Q4 2024 by winning back general sustainable fashion searches and turning them into sales through Black Friday.
The strategy: three moves
The audience is eco-conscious US shoppers who buy on values: sustainability, transparency and durability. They search by need rather than brand, such as "organic cotton underwear" and "sustainable basics". The strategy had three moves:
Rebuild credibility in Google's eyes. The AI copy had made the pages less relevant, so Google ranked them lower.
Use sustainability to get found. Showing CO2 footprint and materials on every product page gave both shoppers and Google concrete proof.
Make use of existing coverage. Many sites mentioned Organic Basics without linking to the webshop, and links from other sites are one of Google's most important signals.
Results were benchmarked Q4 against Q4, so the impact could be read independently of seasonality.
How we did it
With one quarter to turn things around, we sequenced the work for the fastest payback.
Audit and internal links
We gave every collection page its own target search term. Pages missing from the menu got links from related pages, so both shoppers and Google could find them.
Content de-bloat
The long AI copy was cut and replaced with tight, on-intent copy.
Sustainability as authority
The brand already had data on CO2 footprint and materials, but it wasn't shown on the pages. We added it to every relevant product page in one go.
More information directly in Google
We expanded the product schema with colour, size, shipping, returns and the loyalty programme. That got the brand's loyalty benefits shown directly in Google Shopping.
More links from other sites
We found articles and pages that mentioned Organic Basics without linking, and asked them to add a link. Roughly one in three said yes.
