SEO Expert

What is an SEO Expert, and what do they do?

An SEO expert is a person who specialises in search engine optimisation (also known as SEO: Search Engine Optimization). In other words, an SEO expert is someone who knows what it takes to get a website to rank well in search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., and is able to execute on that knowledge.
Since search engines are as advanced as they are today and evaluate a website on more than 200 different parameters when ranking it for a single keyword, the tasks of an SEO expert are varied and demanding.
And the demands keep growing as search engines evolve and competition becomes increasingly fierce.
What an SEO expert does precisely depends on which website or websites they are working on and what is needed to improve that site's organic rankings and traffic.

Examples of typical SEO Expert tasks:

  • Analysis work, including: keywords, competition, market, trends, etc.
  • Ability to use data and relevant SEO tools such as Google Analytics, GSC, etc.
  • Developing strategies and plans: What is needed to achieve better rankings and more traffic?
  • Execution across the various SEO disciplines such as: on-site optimisation, content, link building, technical SEO, etc.

What does an SEO Expert cost?

It is impossible to give a straightforward answer to what an SEO expert costs, as it depends on your current setup and starting point. If you hire an external SEO expert, for example a freelancer or an SEO agency, an SEO expert's hourly rate will typically be between 500 and 1,500 Danish kroner per hour.
This also depends greatly on expertise, experience, etc. You get what you pay for, as with everything else.

What does an SEO Expert earn?

If you hire an SEO expert in-house, an SEO expert will typically cost around 25,000 to 80,000 Danish kroner per month, as an SEO expert — assuming the role is at manager level — earns on average 39,635 Danish kroner before tax. The average hourly rate for an SEO expert is therefore approximately 248 Danish kroner, based on a typical monthly working time of 160 hours. It is important to note that these figures may vary depending on experience and title; the examples here refer to an SEO manager.

Do you need an SEO Expert?

Are you unsure whether an SEO expert is what you need? For the vast majority of businesses, SEO is the most important traffic source, and this is natural, as more than 68% of all online journeys start here — and so do the majority of buying journeys.
And as competition becomes increasingly fierce and search engines more and more important, higher demands are placed on individual companies. In other words, it takes skilled people today to be able to compete for top rankings and large volumes of free, consistent traffic.
