Web development is no longer just about elegant lines of code and nice design. It's about business, data and being ready for a future shaped by artificial intelligence. Our Lead Web Developer, Rasmus König Lund – who in December also had cause to celebrate as Talent of the Year 2025 – has just completed his first year in the Searchmind engine room. We sat down with him to talk about the tremendous trust shown by clients, future "AI-first" thinking, and what's happening in his field right now.
During his first year, Rasmus has left a clear technical mark on a wide range of major platforms and web solutions. He is, among other things, the person behind the technical setups for brands such as:
The culture, the expectations and the great trust
What made you choose Searchmind, and has it lived up to your expectations?
I chose Searchmind because I wanted to test my skills with solutions for large and ambitious brands. It was important to me to join a place where web development works hand in hand with the business's vision, operations and marketing. At the same time, the prospect of developing myself even further was appealing.
It has definitely lived up to my expectations. In everyday life, it means a great deal to work closely with specialists in marketing disciplines where I'm not an expert myself. You constantly learn something new, and I think it matters a lot that we have a culture where knowledge is shared and ideas are discussed across teams. For example, we have monthly knowledge-sharing sessions where we dive into a relevant topic – and I can reveal that Claude has been a very popular topic for quite some time.
What has surprised you most positively in your first year at Searchmind?
What has probably surprised me most positively is the trust. Both internally, but also from the clients and brands who have given us the opportunity to put action behind the ideas. Web development at Searchmind was almost non-existent when I joined, so there wasn't necessarily a long list of references. Even so, clients have allowed us to be involved, contribute ideas and shape the solutions. That means everything and creates both responsibility and motivation.
Future technologies and the path towards an "AI-first" setup
A lot is happening in your field: what are you most excited about right now?
I'm very focused on MCP (Model Context Protocol) and the possibilities that arise when you connect analytical work directly to systems like Shopify or Umbraco. The tools no longer just analyse from the outside – they work in close proximity to the business's own system. This provides a much stronger data foundation, so our decisions, content and actions are always optimally aligned.
What is your single best piece of advice for businesses looking for better performance for the rest of 2026?
Talk openly about your AI ambitions and protect your brand. In an AI era, values, quality and brand recognition become decisive for differentiation. Where people used to talk about 'Mobile-first', you should now think 'AI-first'. It's not about forcing AI in, but about building web solutions that are ready for a reality where AI is a natural part of the way we search and analyse. When a website is geared for that, it's almost only creativity that sets the limits on performance.
