Outbound marketing

What is outbound marketing?

Outbound marketing is all marketing where a company pushes its message out to a target audience that has not directly asked for it. This can be through traditional marketing such as advertisements, but also outbound sales, ads on social media, and more.

TIP!
Outbound marketing closely relates to the concept of Push Marketing.

Outbound marketing is thus the opposite of inbound marketing, where you attract your target audience to you. Below you will find some typical examples of outbound marketing:

Outbound marketing examples:

  • Traditional marketing: Marketing your message through relevant traditional media such as newspapers, dailies, TV, on buses, taxis, etc.
  • SoMe marketing: Advertising to your target audience on relevant social media such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat, etc.
  • Display Advertising: Messages on banner ads on relevant websites.
  • Cold canvassing: Direct contact, e.g. by phone or email, to relevant customers.
