How do you boost visibility for a family-owned business with over 100 years of history — without compromising the local credibility that is its very foundation?
For Sandby Smedie, the answer since August 2024 has been a persistent collaboration on SEO and content, where every single page is built to reach the customers who are genuinely thinking about a lawn mower, a chainsaw, or a spare part. The result is more than a doubling of organic traffic and a significant increase in the number of top rankings on Google.

The starting point: a strong product range without full digital visibility
Sandby Smedie stands strong in the field — literally. Four generations, a massive inventory, and deep product expertise within garden, park, agriculture and leisure — from lawn mowers and garden tractors to chainsaws, spare parts and workwear for brands like Stiga, Stihl, MTD and Briggs & Stratton.
But that knowledge and product range wasn't fully reflected in search results. Traffic was stable, but flat — and a large share of customers Googling for the exact products and spare parts Sandby Smedie stocks never made it to the site. The task was therefore not to build visibility from scratch, but to translate an existing professional authority into real ranking power on Google.
The strategy: brand authority, in-depth content and a solid technical foundation
Rather than chasing traffic for its own sake, we built the effort around searches with real commercial value for a business with both a webshop and a physical store. Since August 2024, the work has rested on a few cohesive strategic tracks:
Brand and category strategy
Sandby Smedie carries the major brands within garden, park and agriculture, including Stihl, Stiga, MTD, Cub Cadet, AL-KO, Solo and Ginge. We have turned the most important category pages into dedicated brand hubs, optimised to win rankings on the most commercially significant searches, and structured the product range so that each brand family has its own strong entry point on Google.
Editorial content built on the company's own expertise. Sandby Smedie's greatest asset is the specialist knowledge from their own workshop. We have made that knowledge searchable through category texts and an editorial universe of guides, comparisons and maintenance articles, developed in collaboration with the company's own mechanics. This produces content with genuine sender authority that captures the customer early in the decision process and leads them on to product and spare parts pages as well as the physical store in Glumsø.
Structure, silos and internal link building. Based on thorough keyword analysis, we established a clear site structure and built dense internal links around the most important product areas. This concentrates topical authority where it creates the most value and makes it easier for both Google and customers to navigate the product range.
A technical foundation that supports growth. We have worked continuously on page speed and technical improvements, structured data (including FAQ and product markup) and a healthy product feed, so that the range is decoded correctly across search results and shopping.
Ongoing, targeted link building
Domain authority has been strengthened through a persistent link-building effort aimed at the most commercially important brand and category pages, giving the rankings solid backing where competition is greatest.
Ready for the future of search
We continuously monitor how Sandby Smedie appears in AI-generated answers, ensuring visibility is maintained not only in classic search results but also in the new AI-driven search surfaces.
Consistency is the foundation
The progress has not been created by a single push, but by a stable, long-term collaboration month after month since August 2024, with strategy, content, technology and link building all pulling in the same direction.
The mechanism: from volume to quality in rankings
The most striking thing about the numbers is not just that traffic has more than doubled, but where it comes from. The number of keywords in Google's absolute top positions (positions 1–3) has increased from 111 to 458 — more than a fourfold increase.
This is the core of the value SEO creates here: Sandby Smedie has not just become more visible — the business has become visible on the searches that matter. More top rankings for commercially relevant keywords means more qualified visitors, a higher estimated traffic value, and a stronger foundation for both the webshop and the physical store, independent of ad spend.
Are you wondering whether Searchmind is right for you? Our experience has been nothing short of excellent. The team has been particularly stable and consistent (…) I hope it's okay to mention names, but a special thanks to Nicolai and Magnus for the incredible momentum they've created. (…) BUT their salesperson from Searchmind hit on points that went deeper than the generic 'test your SEO score'. These were points I knew we were struggling with, and they nailed them with pinpoint accuracy. Thank you for the great treatment.
